Expansion batteries for laptops
Do you need to be independent of the power supply for a longer period of time than standard batteries offer?
For many notebook models, AVACOM offers expanded batteries, with a higher number of cells than original batteries. The battery is physically larger, and either wraps around the notebook or lifts the back of the notebook, creating a slightly ergonomically thinner keyboard pitch.
A battery made from high quality components
The battery features sophisticated electronics with double protection. This section controls the charging of individual cell strings and also protects them from overcharging and subtraction. With more battery cells, laptop battery life is noticeably increased so you can avoid travelling with a power adapter for longer periods.
How to keep the battery in good condition
The battery is partially charged at the factory, yet its capacity and performance are below 100%. Therefore, for optimal battery formatting, it is recommended to repeat the full charge/discharge cycle at least 3 times at the beginning. The battery capacity reduces with permanent connection to the power supply, so it is sometimes recommended to disconnect the device from the mains. If the battery is not in use, store it in a dry place and check it after approximately six months.
What can damage the battery?
One of the most common causes of battery degradation is when you deplete it completely and then do not use it for a long time. Do not expose the battery to temperatures above 60°C. If the battery is exposed to temperatures below 5°C, charge it only at room temperature. Use the battery only in the devices for which it is intended. Also be careful that the battery is not subject to a short circuit or higher discharge currents. Protect it from mechanical damage, chemical agents and moisture.
