The speakers offer 14W of RMS power to produce great sound quality for movies, computer games, or other multimedia. The speakers are also very practical due to the convenient headphone connection on the front as well as Line-in and volume control.
Active speakers have a custom built-in amplifier (typically a PC speakers). Conversely, passive systems require an external amplifier, from which the sound goes to each speaker.
The number of channels refers to the number of independent audio signals that can be reproduced simultaneously.
