The Marantz CD5005 CD player is full of features which will provide you with great sound for a great price. It can play CD, CD-R and CD-RW, but also compressed MP3 and WMA files. Its key advantage is improved reproduction of high-quality media, which is achieved by using components of the highest quality only, such as the renowned CS4398 D/A converter or a brand new superb CD drive. Both are borrowed from the more expensive CD6005 model. Energy conscious users will appreciate reduced consumption in standby mode.
The Audio EX(clusive) mode further improves sound quality by switching off various functions when they are not used, such as digital output and variable speed playback. Gold-plated analog RCA connectors minimize loss of quality due to imperfect input connection. The equipment of this audiophile CD player includes a headphone output, an easy-to-read display and an innovative remote control.
The Marantz brand has developed its own discrete PCB which replaces standard integrated circuits completely. These HDAM modules are composed of discrete components with short routes and mirrored left and right channels. They fulfill the same function as a conventional operational amplifier with integrated circuits, but are several times better in terms of slewing and noise reduction, which results in much more dynamic, more accurate and more detailed reproduction.
To achieve the best playback it is necessary that the signal path is short, direct and mirror-symmetric. The design of Marantz CD player's circuits provides improved stereo imaging with the help of nigh perfect symmetry of the left and right channels.
