When to change a nappy
During the first few months you may need to change the nappy up to 10 times in 24 hours. Nappies need to be changed whenever wet or soiled. Your baby will usually (not always) let you know. With super-absorbent nappies like Pampers you will feel clots of the absorbent material when the nappy is wet.
Other situations when you need to change the nappy:
Immediately before or after feeding
After passing stool
Before sleeptime
When your baby wakes up
Before taking your baby outside
The art of changing nappies
Pampers nappies have been designed to adapt to the baby's body and provide a comfortable fit. When changing, there is no need to fold the waistband or fiddle with the leg cuffs.
Stick the stretchy tabs parallel with the waistline onto the middle of the waistband with pictures.
Use the pictures as a guide for attaching the tabs evenly.
Avoid contact with baby powder to keep the tabs sticky.
How to clean your baby's bottom
All Pampers baby wipes help get rid of bacteria, even after bathing. Keep them on hand when changing nappies to help keep your baby clean and protected.
If you have a baby girl, always wipe from the front towards the back to prevent stool from getting to her genitalia. Clean everything carefully as the folds of skin around the genitalia can also be dirty.
How to treat and prevent nappy dermatitis
Red rash on your baby's bottom can be a sign of nappy dermatitis. This is caused by various factors, including residue stool and urine being in contact with the skin for too long between changes, or as a result of antibiotics. When your baby starts eating solid food, always wait a few days before trying a new type of food to see whether the rash could be caused by a particular food item. If your baby suffers from nappy dermatitis, clean the whole area gently but thoroughly with baby wipes. Letting the skin breathe is also helpful. See a pediatrician if the rash persists.
How to choose the right nappy size
Just like you, children like to wear what fits them well. Choose such a size that does not hang on your baby nor fall down while playing or crawling about. This helps prevent leaking. See the size charts with weight limits that helps you determine the size. And remember, when you size up, the nappy will be able to absorb more wetness.
Safe nappy changing
Even if you buy the fanciest toys, babies always play with anything they can get their hands on, including nappies. That's why it's important to keep the nappies where they belong - on your baby's bottom. Don't let your baby put a nappy in his or her mouth. Get rid of any nappy that is torn or otherwise damaged and read the instructions on each pack.
Facts about absorbent materials in nappies
AGM is an absorbent gel material widely used as a filler material in nappies to absorb wetness. It is quite normal to see a trace of the gel on the skin, especially if the nappy is very wet. You can easily wipe it away with some baby wipes.
This material has a long history of safe use in a number of products and has been used in nappies for more than a decade. The absorbing gel material is closely related to ingredients used in cosmetics products and in food processing.
Storing nappies
Store nappies in a place safe from extreme temperatures, free from dampness, and away from scented products. We recommend storing nappies in a dry place.
