The upgraded version of AF provides silent and high-speed AF when shooting images, seamless AF Tracking during video recording, and minimises its operating noise caused by focusing and changing aperture values. Together with its weather resistance, you´ll get a reliable companion for shooting even in harsh conditions such as raining or snowing.

Although the lens is relatively small, it accommodates a set of lenses for the high-resolution APS-C sensor. Among eleven elements there is one ED element that prevents effectively spherical and chromatic aberrations. It results in detailed images with rich contrast both in the middle of the picture and on the edges no matter what focal length you set.

The focus is driven by a revolutionary pulsing motor that embodies the ideals of photography and filmmaking. At a short focal length, it operates up to 8x faster than the previous version and at the longest focal length, it is about 1.7x. Along with its quiet operation, you will appreciate this lens even when shooting action images. It can even boast an improved manual focus. The focus ring was modified to detect accurately the rotation angle and for quick response to the changes.
