Oblíbený rozsah základního zoom objektivu pro digitální zrcadlovky formátu Nikon FX, tedy full-frame, ale použít lze samozřejmě i na DX (APS-C). Objektiv je moderní konstrukce v oblíbené modelové řadě ART. Vyniká stálou světelností při všech ohniskových vzdálenostech a vysokým optickým výkonem, včetně příjemného bokehu. Výhodou je dále kvalitní ostřící systém HSM, stejně jako výkonná optická stabilizace a robustní mechanické provedení. Nevýhodou může být snad jen mírně vyšší cena a velký průměr filtrového závitu, což v praxi znamená vysoké ceny filtrů (pokud je tedy budete potřebovat.
