The lens consists of 20 optical elements in 14 groups with FLD and SLD lenses. What could be better? The SLD lens is made of glass with a low light dispersion. It compensates for image scaling and chromatic aberration. The result is a higher optical quality but the FLD lens is even better. It is made of glass with the lowest scattering of light. Compared with ELD or SLD lenses, it transmits more light. It ensures colour correction, sharper pictures and improved optical quality.

HSM is a lens motor drive, operating on the principle of ultrasonic waves thus ensuring quiet operation and fast autofocus. With DG, you can recognize the lenses designed for full-frame and APS-C cameras.
