Top-quality professional-calibre FDR-AX1 Handycam was practically predestined to capture spectacular images of unparalleled quality.
The FDR-AX1 supports 4K (3840 x 2160), the format that delivers about four times the resolution of Full HD, allowing you to experience a new dimension of definition with a smooth, true to life and highly precise recording.
Sony’s unique 1/2.3 inch 8.3MP back-illuminated Exmor R® CMOS Sensor is essential to the stunning image quality and brighter and clearer shots. The back-illuminated structure, featuring wiring layers on a back of a photodiode, also dramatically boosts low-light sensitivity in dim lighting.
The unbelievably powerful incorporated image processor handles the 4K video at 60fps with ease and enables you to record important moments, even those tricky ones, always so difficult to capture and gone in the blink of an eye, in a lifelike detail.
The camcorder also features a XAVC-S codec which allows for longer recording times within a given
media capacity than XAVC, making 4K recording easier and more convenient, saving the space on a memory card.
In addition to the high-quality internal microphone, the AX1’s two external XLR terminals let you connect high-performance pro microphones to the camera to be used to record superior quality balanced audio synchronised to the video.
The legendary G lens advances Sony’s heritage of image processing innovation by further developing the combination of a special low-dispersion glass and an aspheric lens.
The high-quality lens offers a broad zooming range from wide-angle to 20x optical zoom. The AX1 uses XQD media cards for smooth and high-speed reading and writing to prevent any obstructions while using the highest 4K resolution setting.
The camcorder offers many additional features, such as seven assignable and programmable buttons. The AX1 features three ND filters for adjusting the amount of light entering the image sensor from the lens adding an expressive cinematic feel to the recording. The viewfinder is easily adjustable, and if even that proves to be unsatisfactory, there’s always the built-in 3.5” LCD monitor. Playback of the captured 4K content on a compatible TV is made possible with the supplied HDMI cable. Full HD monitors can also be used to enjoy this content by simply changing the menu HDMI output settings to 1920 x 1080.
Sony Corporation is a Japanese company founded in 1946. Its headquarters is located in Tokyo. Its beginnings were humble. The first product sold under the Sony brand was a transistor radio. It was those radios that played a pivotal role in the company's expansion in the 1960s and the world quickly began to associate Sony products with a reliably stellar price-performance ratio.
In the 1970s, Sony was severely affected by the global economic crisis. Many analysts considered the company effectively defunct and could see no future for it. However, they underestimated the famous Japanese perseverance and courage. The crisis was not a disaster for Sony; on the contrary, it served as a launching pad to even greater heights. The company recovered and soon changed the media landscape with the development of the CD and later the DVD. In the early 1990s, Sony achieved another major success with the introduction of the PlayStation gaming console. It is the gaming consoles that best represent the intersection of the three key areas in which the company operates today – electronics, video games, and the entertainment industry.
