After years of customer requests, Sony has finally released the Ultimate Player Edition of the PS4, with 1 TB of storage and tweaked features.
The release is just in time too, because the second half of 2015 will see a flood of highly anticipated (and very, very large) games, including Batman: Arkham Knight, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and God of War III Remastered.
With double the hard drive capacity of the standard system, you are freed to use this PS4 however you please without worrying about running out of space. With the PS Store, you can pre-order your favorite games before launch day and pre-load them on your system, meaning they will be ready to play the second they are released.
You can also better enjoy the benefits of PlayStation Plus, which sends you selected titles free of charge every month. Invite your friends and enjoy the multiplayer experience to the fullest, or use the service’s cloud storage to save game data online, so you can easily download and continue playing undisturbed on a different console.
In addition to increased storage, the Ultimate Edition also includes some small quality-of-life tweaks, such as increased energy efficiency and quieter fans. It also replaces the touch buttons of the regular console with physical buttons for the tactile-minded.
Overall, it’s a great upgrade to the default model, and while it may not be a worthy upgrade for those who already have a PS4…for anyone thinking about getting one, this new Edition should be the final push.
