Tamron introduces the second generation of its G2 telephoto lens, which follows in the footsteps of its successful predecessor, the SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD. The new model boasts an enhanced optical design to achieve even better results. Three Low Dispersion (LD) elements completely eliminate axial and lateral chromatic aberration. The optical system has also undergone numerous improvements and now features 21 elements in 13 groups, and benefits from the innovative manufacturing technology that results in high-resolution images, superior sharpness, and improved lens performance. This lens is designed to satisfy the needs of demanding photographers who specialise in ultra-telephoto photography.

What's new?

The Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 offers several new features and innovations. For example, the special eBand nano coating eliminates glare and ghosting. This modification also improves light transmission and suppresses internal reflections. Combined with the BBAR finish, both reduce glare and ghosting to the very minimum. The minimum focus distance is 2.2m, which is 0.5m less than in the previous model. 

This model is also newly equipped with a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor with excellent responsiveness and control. The AF speed has been greatly increased compared to the previous version, allowing you to focus very quickly when shooting moving objects. The VC (Vibration Compensation) effectiveness is equivalent to 4.5 EV steps. Additionally, the lens provides three types of VC modes:

• VC MODE 1 - standard mode for perfect balance between the stability of the image in the viewfinder and the stabilisation effects
• VC MODE 2 - exclusively used for panoramic shots
• VC MODE 3 - prioritises the stabilisation of the captured images over the stabilisation of the image in the viewfinder 

Sturdy construction suitable for outdoor use

The Flex Lock Zoom mechanism allows you to quickly lock or unlock the zoom at any position simply by rotating the zoom ring. You can shoot from any angle without accidentally changing the zoom. The system is also useful when transporting the lens, as it prevents unwanted barrel extension. 

The front side of the lens is coated with a protective fluorine layer that repels water and oil. As a result, this means that the lens surface can be easily cleaned of dirt, dust, moisture, and fingerprints without any negative consequences. The entire barrel is also protected by waterproof sealing, allowing you to safely shoot outdoors.
