Proper Gaming TV Is a Large TV
If you are not limited by space, we recommend grabbing a large diagonal, at least 65". Combined with 4K or 8K resolution, it will provide you with a really great visual experience. However, keep in mind that it's not good to watch TV up close. You won't see the entire screen and you will have to constantly refocus and twist your neck, which isn't convenient. Below, you can see a table containing the minimum, maximum and optimal recommended viewing distances.

TVs for the PS5 and the Xbox Series Must Be 4K
Most households are already equipped with a 4K television today. Movies, series and regular television broadcasts are now available in 4K resolution. Since the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X, 4K resolution is also available for playing console games. The new PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X consoles are capable of producing up to 8K resolution, but most game titles will remain at 4K for a long time to come. Therefore, consider this when buying a gaming TV. Using a Full HD TV would degrade your gaming experience.
120 fps Unlock the Potential of the Next-Gen Consoles
The new Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles offer up to 120 frames per second (fps). Although this is the maximum value and most games are still limited to 4K at 60 fps, this trend will soon be reversed and many action and racing games will target 120 fps. If you want to make the most of your console, you should be interested in 120 fps gaming TVs.
Unfortunately, TV manufacturers don't reveal much when it comes to the supported frame rates. However, if the TV can handle 120 fps, the manufacturer is always happy to brag about it.
i
Both the Xbox Series and the PlayStation 5 support variable refresh rates ( VRR ). This prevents horizontal tearing of the image and at the same time helps with the smoothness of games if they do not reach the set image limits (60/120 fps).
HDR10 Is Supported Both by PlayStation and Xbox, Dolby Vision only by Xbox
Modern game consoles process video signal in HDR, i.e. high dynamic range. It is defined by several standards that specify exactly how black and white and all shades in between should be interpreted. For example, if you bring HDR10 to a TV that supports HDR10, you will see very bright and very dark parts of the picture in one scene on the screen. You may be able to recognize a silhouette emerging from the darkness sooner than before. For the PS5 and Xbox Series, the common standard is HDR10, and the Xbox console from Microsoft also supports the Dolby Vision standard.
Gaming Mode Allows the Lowest "Input Lag" Possible
Gaming also requires "Gaming mode", which is a feature that limits all picture enhancements and thus reduces the so-called input lag. Nowadays, televisions analyze the incoming video signal and then improve it using various algorithms. This processing takes tens of milliseconds and such a delay is undesirable for gaming purposes. The fastest TVs for the PS5 and Xbox One have a response time of less than 10ms. Unfortunately, the lowest achievable input lag can be found very rarely in TV parameters.
HDMI 2.1
The latest HDMI 2.1 standard supports 120Hz signal transmission, VRR, all HDR standards and resolutions up to 10K. If your TV is equipped with an HDMI 2.1 connector, it should meet all these parameters and take full advantage of all the features of the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.
HDMI 2.0 - up to 4K, 60Hz, HDR
HDMI 2.1 - up to 10K, 120Hz, HDR, VRR (variable refresh rate)
"Ready for the PlayStation 5"
Sony, the manufacturer of PlayStation game consoles, has labeled selected TVs of its own production "Ready for the Playstation 5". What does it mean? These Sony TV models are fully compatible with the new Sony PlayStation 5. They meet all the parameters we wrote about above and add some additional features. With these TVs, you are guaranteed the maximum gaming experience on the PS5.
