After 2.5 years it stopped working with a fault code 6800. When I bought it, someone before me described that it has a "programmed fucker" that sends it under the plants with this exact code shortly after the basic warranty expires. So I bought a 3-year warranty, had it repaired in Can-J-servis Prague (replacement of the control board, adjustment, tety, amount 1.924, - CZK) and now I just hope that Alza will reimburse me for the repair. The repair was done within a week, it's working again!

For the money, an excellent printer. Sharp printing and accurate colours. When printed on high-quality photo paper, the quality of the photos is excellent. (e.g. Fomei Pro 265 gives great results) As the biggest disadvantage I take a big waste of ink at startup - the printer every time at power on performs a certain kind of cleaning, which consumes relatively a lot of ink. It's not much in terms of tanks, but it adds up. It cannot be turned off in the settings. According to discussions, Canons are known for this. The waste cleaning tank is then more than 1/10 full, after printing about 80 10x15 photos and 5 runs. The only solution is probably not to turn off the printer and leave it in standby mode. The workmanship of the printer is of poor quality, the plastics are like a yoghurt pot, when installing the heads and ink you are afraid it will fall apart, the power connector has a giant slack. But probably a good concession considering the price, the main thing is the print quality and the 2+1 year warranty solves that. When printed, a fine raster/texturing is visible. Visible only very close up, less visible on good quality papers. The semi-matte ones hide it almost perfectly. It acts as a kind of noise, so it's watchable. This is only for extreme nitpickers, if they expect almost invisible raster like Epson's tank series: )

For a reasonable price, a very good printer if you want to print more and especially in colour. In comparison to the G5040 (4 inks and PG black), the colour rendering is incomparably better and the black is deeper. Absolutely excellent for home use, a bit slow for professional photo printing. I don't find it noisy, and you can turn on silent mode just in case, but I wouldn't want to sleep next to it. Colours can be adjusted in the print settings and, if necessary, specific settings can be saved for later use. However, the quality of the paper certainly matters.
