The combination of steaming + microwave cooking makes the food cooked really fast (meat + potatoes in about 10 minutes), just the right size for one serving if you're not a big eater. Ideal in the hot months when you don't want to heat up the oven or stove to warm up your apartment. I've been using it for about a month now and so far the plastic hasn't warped in any way, so it will probably hold some temperature.
Fast cooking without fat
Not as much heat is generated in the apartment as with other types of cooking
It's white plastic, so it will stain over time from the food you prepare in it. But all plastics do that.
