We connected the cable between the turntable and the preamplifier. In this connection, the cable causes a loud buzzing noise. It's probably badly shaded. All it takes is a hint of a loop on it, or the cable getting close to the power cable, and the hum is stronger. If you straighten it and move it away from the power current, the buzzing becomes much weaker.
If the signal from the cable is not further amplified (e.g. preamplifier), it is possible that the bad shielding will not be known.
