ASUS ZenUI is the interface used in ASUS phones. The latest version of ZenUI 6 was introduced in 2019 and focuses on ease of use. What is the ZenUI extension like?
An important aspect of the ASUS ZenUI user interface is its appearance and especially its performance. Previous versions of ZenUI were often denounced for the exaggerated number of applications that the interface added. ASUS has not ignored this criticism, and the new ZenUI 6 can now boast simplicity, clarity and ease of use of its graphical interface, which is not very different from pure Android.

The latest system color settings also allow the user to change the appearance of the interface to best suit the requirements. Here comes the new ZenUI 6 with a dark mode that is definitely suitable, whether you want to put less strain on your eyes or you just like the dark mode more.
ASUS ZenUI relies on simplicity
In the new version of ZenUI 6, we find much fewer pre-installed applications than we could see in its predecessors. According to the manufacturer, their number was reduced by 43%. We will now find these applications in ZenUI 6:
- launcher, security, gallery, file manager, weather, game manager, camera, clock, settings, calculator, phone, contacts, data transfer, sound settings, answering machine.
But the new version comes with one very interesting feature that we have not seen in its predecessors. It is called OptiFlex function, which speeds up the launch of applications, reduces their loading and significantly saves energy in standby mode.
An interesting addition to the ZenUI 6 is undoubtedly the Smart Volume function. This feature adjusts the initial volume of ringtones, media, and phone calls to the volume appropriate for the ambient noise level. In practice, this means that when there is noise around the phone, the ZenFone will increase the volume and decrease it again in a quiet environment.
The interface has also been designed to handle a variety of display sizes. So it adjusts the position of the controls on the screen for easier one-handed operation. ZenUI 6 also allows the ZenFone 6 to wake up the screen by double-tapping the screen. We will also see the Smart Key function, which allows you to adjust the functionality of the button on the phone depending on how you press the button itself.
Which devices have ZenUI?
The latest version of ASUS ZenUI 6 is installed in Asus Zenfone 7, Zenfone 7 Pro, ROG Phone 3, Zenfone 6 i ROG Phone 2. Previous versions of ZenUI can also be found in other devices:
- phones series Asus Zenfone and from series Zenfone 2,
- tablets Asus Fonepad 7 and 8, Asus MeMO Pad 7 and 8, Asus tablets Zenpad 10,
- hybrid phones Asus Padfone.
The predecessor of ASUS ZenUI
PBefore the ZenUI was introduced to the world, we could see the WaveShare UI on the Asus. It was first released on the ASUS Padfone hybrid smartphone in 2012 and later began to be used on other Taiwanese products. From today' s point of view, WaveShare UI looks survivable and cumbersome, but at the time it was a modern environment. It was last used in the Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 tablet, which was launched in the summer of 2013.
