An earring hook is a type of earring fastening that consists of a curved wire. This wire is threaded through the piercing in the earlobe. The earrings stay in the ear due to their own weight and their curved shape. To increase security against loss, it is often complemented by a silicone or metal stopper that slides onto the end of the hook behind the ear. This type of fastening is commonly used for dangle earrings and is also referred to as "afroháček" in Czech.
