HF waxes, short for High Fluorocarbon waxes, contain a high fluorine content, which gives them exceptional moisture resistance and improved slip resistance, especially on wet or damp snow. The fluorocarbon components in the wax reduce the surface tension between the slide and the wet layer on the snow, allowing for better sliding. HF waxes are particularly valued in race skiing and snowboarding, where any small advantage in slip resistance can have a significant impact on results.
