Laser printers are popular for their speed and efficiency. These printers use a laser beam to "write" an image onto a drum using an electrostatic charge. Toner, which is powdered ink, is then attracted to these charged areas on the drum and is transferred to the paper. Because of their high speed and print quality, laser printers are often used in office environments where large quantities of documents need to be printed. In addition, because they print using powder toner instead of liquid ink, the resulting prints are smudge and fade resistant.
