Passive PoE (Power over Ethernet) is a simpler version of PoE technology that provides constant, unregulated power. Unlike active PoE, passive PoE does not involve any communication between the power source and the receiving device, which means that there is no automatic negotiation of the amount of power needed by the device. Therefore, the user must carefully select a power source that matches the electrical requirements of the connected device. Incorrect selection can lead to damage to the equipment due to overload or insufficient power supply.
