Port Triggering
Port Triggering is a more advanced and dynamic method than traditional Port Forwarding, which allows temporary opening of ports based on specific traffic generated from the local network. Unlike Port Forwarding, which requires ports to be open at all times and thus can pose a security risk, Port Triggering opens ports only when needed and closes them automatically when activity ceases. This method is suitable for applications that require incoming connections after initiating communication from the local network, but do not require constant access from the external Internet. Port Triggering is ideal for intermittent communication needs such as some online games, video conferencing, or VoIP applications where dynamic access management and enhanced security are important.
