TRIM is a command used in SSDs (which are fast, silent, durable storage devices with no moving parts, using solid-state memory) that allows the operating system to inform the SSD which blocks of data are no longer in use and can be erased or overwritten. Activating the TRIM feature improves the performance and long-term reliability of the SSD by enabling more efficient management of free disk space.
