A trackball is a type of pointing device that works on the principle of a rotating ball placed in a fixed body. The user rotates this ball with his fingers (or sometimes his palm) to control the cursor on the screen, while the device itself remains stationary. Some keyboards are equipped with an integrated trackball, allowing the cursor to be controlled without the need for a mouse. Integrated trackballs in keyboards can also be useful for users with certain physical limitations who may have difficulty using a traditional mouse. In addition, some professionals, such as graphic designers or users working in the audiovisual industry, may appreciate the precision and ergonomics that a trackball offers.
