Focus Speed

Focusing on the subject determines the sharpness of the final image. To properly focus, you need to choose a focal plane that is parallel to the sensor. Everything that passes through the focal plane will then be in focus.

Everything before and after the focal plane will be blurred, further objects more so. Normally, the camera can no longer focus on a distance of 10-20 cm.

Auto Focus

Autofocus camera lenses measure the distance to the subject photographed, and sets the lens in a way that it passes through the focus plane. Auto focus function also use face detection.

  • Active Auto Focus measure the distance to an object by the response of an infrared beam.
  • Passive Auto Focus analyzes the contrast edges of objects using sensors to find the maximum sharpness.
  • Automatic Continuous Auto Focus is designed to focus a moving subject.

Manual Focus

Manual focus using the focus ring. This reliable method is popular with experienced photographers. Manual focus is primarily used for shooting low contrast subjects or in low light conditions.

  • Inherent to digital SLRs with classic viewfinders
