Microsoft Office is offered either as a perpetual licence as Office 2021 or in a prepaid package Microsoft 365.

Office 2021 - Permanent Licence

The purchased Office 2021 license can be installed on 1 PC or 1 Mac (depending on the variant). The license is time unlimited and transferable, but you must purchase a completely new license to upgrade to a new version.

License code in a box or an electronic license?

Physical license ("boxed" version)

  • 1 If I already have Microsoft 365, how do I get the apps in the 2021 versions?

    One of the great advantages of Microsoft 365 is that you always have the most up-to-date versions of all applications. If you have any version of Microsoft 365 installed on your computer, all apps will automatically update. If necessary, you can start the update manually. Instructions for updating Microsoft 365 can be found below.

    1. Open any application from the Microsoft 365 office suite.
    2. Here, select the File tab and click Account.
    3. Find the Product Information section and click on "Update Options" and then select "Update".

      Note: If you do not see the option above, click on "Allow updates". This will enable automatic software updates. Then, follow the instructions in point 3 above. You can also start the update by going to www.office.com/myaccount and downloading the installation file here.
      Attention: for proper function, you must not have different versions of applications installed on the same computer (for example, Word version 2016 and 2021).

  • 2 What is the difference between Microsoft 365 and Office 2021?

    Microsoft 365 offers comprehensive software for offices and homes. This includes a full suite of all apps, including OneDrive cloud storage and extra credit for calling landlines and phones using Skype. You can use the complete Microsoft 365 environment on PCs, Macs, tablets and mobile phones running Android, Windows or iOS. Choose between monthly and annual subscriptions. The Microsoft Business Standard variant also adds OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Yammer and other useful tools. This variant also allows, unlike the previous ones, commercial use.

    The Office 2021 suite of applications (for home, student and business) includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. They are available with a one-time purchase and are intended for one PC/Mac. They do not allow automatic updates, in the case of a new version you must purchase the new version.

  • 3 Is my computer suitable for use with Microsoft 365 and how can I tell?

    If you have Windows 10 or Mac OS X 10.11 or later, you can rest assured that your computer will be able to run the applications. For an overview of other system requirements, see the system requirements tab. Here you will also find info about phones and tablets.

  • 4 How many devices can I use Microsoft 365 on?

  • 5 Do I need to be connected to the internet to use Microsoft 365 or Office 2021?

    An internet connection is required to install and activate the product, but is not required to use Microsoft 365 and Office 2021 or individual products.

    If you use Microsoft 365 as a subscription, an internet connection is required to manage your account. The internet is also required to access and sync OneDrive cloud storage. A regular connection is also necessary for smooth software updates. If you don't log in at least once every 39 days, Microsoft 365 will go into limited functionality mode. You cannot edit or create new documents in this mode. To regain full Office 2021 functionality, just connect to the internet.

  • 6 Can I open documents from Microsoft 365 and Office 2021 on older versions of Office?

    Yes. All Office 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2021 and 365 users can open all documents without any problems. In case you have even older versions, you will need to install the so-called "compatibility pack."

  • 7 Are my documents created in Microsoft 365 safe?

    Yes, it belongs to you and you alone. It's also your choice whether they're stored only on your PC/Mac or backed up to OneDrive cloud storage.

  • 8 What happens when my Microsoft 365 subscription expires? What do I need to do to continue my work?

    If you choose not to continue your Office subscription, the apps will be put into restricted mode. This means that you will be able to view and print documents, but you will not be able to create and edit them. The solution is to extend your subscription.

    If it is an urgent situation, there are two less convenient solutions: You can transfer your documents to the computer where Office is installed or use third-party programs. However, it is not possible to ensure 100% compatibility under these circumstances.

  • 9 Microsoft 365 was installed on my newly purchased PC, what should I do to activate it?

    Activating Microsoft 365 is simple. Just follow the following three steps:

    1. On the Start screen, click the Office tile and select Activate.
    2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
    3. Install Office by following the on-screen instructions.
  • 10 What is a Microsoft Account and what is it for?

    A Microsoft account is an email and password that you choose to log in to services offered by Microsoft (e.g. OneDrive, Hotmail, Xbox Live then. ). Any of these services require a Microsoft account, so you can use it even when you activate Microsoft 365 or Office 2021.
