Topping up the "liquid" is easy - just pry open the matt plastic (the cap, don't worry about it) and after topping up again, give it a good click. No cutting/drilling required. I've been using this way for a couple of years now and when the refill cap happens to get completely tired the orginal replacement doesn't cost the world.
