I give 5* only because this is exactly the product I needed from SONY. It's good for playing in front of the TV when the family is watching another program, or in the bedroom when you want to finish a quick quest before going to sleep. It's not for me to play in the park or at school anymore, because of my age. The bugs I have read are not explicit bugs and I believe that SONY will remove them in software, others can be solved by buying accessories. The price/performance ratio, where for little money you get a full-featured console (clearly, it's not a console, just a display and control device) is on point.
possibility to play anywhere with wifi, or via hotspot from your phone, you don't have to be on the same wifi as the console.
well sensed display with full-range viewing angles.
When playing, you can turn on the TV and watch the game on both the PSP and the TV with sound. Zero delay, both picture, sound and response to the controller. I have a 1Gbps LAN connection to the console and wifi 6, 5GHz in the place of playing measured speed 530Mbps.
The battery with the display brightness at 20% and the sound on at 50% lasted me about 8 hours.
the vibration strength and trigger strength can be adjusted, the controller lighting can be switched off and on.
well chosen display size. From the seat to the 75" TV I have 3,8m and the PSP in my hands in a pleasant position corresponds optically to this size, besides I don't have to wear glasses, without which I can't see the TV.
the construction is overall very durable, despite its perceived heavier weight it maintains torsional stability and does not break.
the display is touchscreen, can be used in the settings, when playing it works like a normal touchpad from the controller, only its recall is a bit more complicated and in case you need to press it longer, you will have to get used to it.
on the hotspot from the phone I felt light lags, connection via 5G on the S21, but it will be the phone and its processing of the mobile site into wifi.
the display is not OLED or QLED, so the black is grey, as it backlights the whole area. It is an ordinary LCD, so compared to TVs it is about 10 years back.
the control sounds quite poor quality, it seems that after a day of use the analogues L3 and R3 start to creak, L3 even from the first use literally crumples in one position. I am afraid of drifting soon and it is not clear to me how this will be solved by a complaint, or will a home repair help, as with a normal controller (disassemble and clean the resistive sensors)
the inability to easily connect multiple accounts to your PSP. So for me typically one PS5, one main account I have, the other one is my wife's. Connecting from one to the other means that you have to log out and then log in via your phone, where you have the PS app with the other account. It's annoying, but I suppose a future update will fix it
if you have a Playstation Plus Premium subscription, you can't play games that you haven't downloaded to the console, so you can't use the Stream service, which is logical, because the console would be processing data from the game server at that moment and then displaying it and forwarding it to the PSP, which would grab the control instructions and send them to the game server. So you can't play games on PSP that can't be downloaded to PS5, like old games like DOOM 1,2 etc that can only be streamed.
the sound from the PSP is tragic, it can only be improved by buying headphones from SONY which are supported but cost the same as the PSP. I assume that SONY will release this and eventually aftermarket headphones will be used.
the black colour is not done, but this is solved in Chinese shops by rubber cover in colour, which is not comfortable, but it solves the aesthetics for now, until the kits for changing the cover are sold.
the placement of the USB C charging in the PSP is a bit awkwardly placed and the charging connector is not properly inserted into it, but this is solved by the charging station, where the PSP is just put down and charged.
you can't adjust the controller sensitivity, but not so that you don't tune the settings for your regular controller.
nothing is included in the package except the USB cable, so the case and the protective glass are the first things that need to be bought immediately.
analogues L3 and R3 seem to put less resistance and are smaller than in controller v2
after unpacking, get ready for a good half hour of installing updates.
