This saga (and the other two books) is without a doubt the most technically elaborate sci-fi I have ever read.
Extremely catchy and thrilling plot. I had to read all three books in just a few days, I couldn't put them down. The last book, Death's End, in less than two days :-)
For some, the book might be a bit too technical in places.
People around you will tell you off for just sitting and reading all the time and not talking to anyone :-D

It's genuinely well written
The plot isn't predictable
It's suspenseful and definitely pulls you in
I don't know, I just couldn't get on board with the main plot idea (the reason it's called The Dark Forest), so the overall impression for me was more of a disappointment. But that's just my feeling, not an objective criticism.
Just like with the first volume, I'm still having trouble getting my head around all the Chinese names. In the end, I was distinguishing the characters more by where they were than by their names.
