Looking for a printer suitable for fast office printing? Need to print out some homework for the kids? Trying to get some high quality prints of vacation photos? The Japanese company Ricoh makes a versatile line of printers that can complete all these functions and more, aided by innovative gel printing technology.
How does this technology work, and why are GelJet printers so special? Read on…
GelJet printing is a highly cost efficient alternative to conventional printing, consuming far less power due to reduced heat use. Ever noticed that the paper coming out of LaserJet printers is warm to the touch? GelJet bonds ink and paper without heat for dramatic energy savings.
Additionally, all of Ricoh’s GelJet printers have an Economy Color mode, which allows you to print in color without using lots of ink. Of course, there are also normal Color and B&W print modes.
If your computer is running Windows, Ricoh printers recognize text and image outputs to use the most efficient amounts of ink. Text, for example, has a much lower print density than images, saving ink. These functions work together to make your toner last considerably longer.
In addition to running at cool temperatures, the printing heads are also unusually large, allowing high printing outputs up to 29 pages per minute.
On paper, gel ink is virtually indistinguishable. It is highly viscous and dries fast, allowing fast adhesion to the paper and preventing smudging.
Ricoh leverages 70 years of experience to create premium devices. The ink cartridges are easily accessible from the front of the printer, and a USB interface, built-in network card and wired LAN ports allow easy connectivity from any device.
