When choosing a grill, focus primarily on the following:

  • Power consumption - the more powerful the grill, the faster you can get your food done
  • Cooking area - how much grilling surface it has and what material it’s made of
  • Temperature settings - some grills offer smooth temperature control, others have pre-set heat settings
  • Weight - lighter grills are obviously easier to move
  • Additional accessories - the grill can come with lids, dip bowls, plates, utensils, or a small pan for grilled cheese

Grilling surface can be made of:

  • Natural stone - allows healthy fat-free grilling
  • Cast iron - suitable for quick food preparation, especially if you like rare steaks
  • Terracotta - highly resistant and durable, allows you to cut food directly on the grilling surface, provides natural taste and smell
  • Ceramic - very easy to clean, even heat distribution
  • Combined

 

Some grills also provide extra space under the grilling area. Put a small pan or three there and you can cook potatoes and grill some cheese. Some also come with extra accessories such as a removable drip tray for fat and interchangeable plates.
