Category A2 is one of the subcategories of drone operations in the so-called Open category, which applies to low-risk flights. It allows pilots to fly drones weighing up to 4 kg in the vicinity of people, but not directly over them. The pilot must maintain a safe horizontal distance from uninvolved persons, meaning people who are not part of the flight and have not been informed about it. This distance is standardly set at 30 meters, but can be reduced to 5 meters under certain conditions, for example, when using the drone's low-speed mode. To fly in this category, the pilot must successfully complete an additional online theoretical examination and also undertake practical self-training to demonstrate their skills.
