Needle positioning is a function of the embroidery machine that allows you to set whether the needle stops in the upper or lower position when sewing stops. If the needle is at the top, it is completely out of the fabric, making it easier to manipulate the embroidery hoop or change the thread. When the needle is stopped in the lower position, it remains embedded in the fabric. This serves as a pivot point, which is practical, for example, when stitching corners or in a technique called "appliqué" where you need to precisely rotate the fabric without moving the stitch.
