Pulse Width Adjustment Function

The pulse width adjustment function allows you to determine how long each individual electrical impulse sent by the electrostimulator into the body lasts. This duration, known as “pulse width”, is typically measured in microseconds, which are millionths of a second. By adjusting this value, the depth and type of stimulation can be influenced. Shorter pulses are perceived as sharper and act more on superficial sensory nerves, which are responsible for the perception of touch and pain. Conversely, longer pulses penetrate deeper and more effectively reach motor nerves, which directly control muscle contraction. The choice of the correct pulse width thus allows for more precise targeting of the therapy as needed, whether for pain relief or muscle strengthening.
