Semi-hollow blade cut

The semi-hollow cut of the blade describes the cross-sectional shape of the steel in the razor, i.e. how it is ground from the thick spine towards the thin edge. This type of cut represents a compromise between two other basic types. On the one hand, there is the fully hollow ground, in which the blade is very thin and flexible, which gives a distinctive sound response when shaving and allows for very fine guidance. On the other side is the wedge cut, which has a solid and stiff blade without any flex. The semi-hollow cut takes features from both. Its blade is slightly curved but still retains considerable stiffness and strength. For the user, this means that the razor is more durable and tolerant of maintenance errors, such as belt wrapping, than the fully hollow version. But it also offers a smoother and more comfortable shave than a heavier wedge cut. Because of this balance, the semi-hollow cut is considered a versatile choice suitable for beginners and advanced users looking for an effective and reliable tool for regular shaving.
