IPX6 is a designation for an ingress protection rating, which is a standardized indication of an electronic device's resistance. The letters "IP" stand for Ingress Protection. The first character after the abbreviation, in this case "X", indicates that resistance to the ingress of solid particles, such as dust, has not been tested. The subsequent digit "6" then specifies the level of protection against water. Headphones, speakers, or players with this rating are protected against powerful water jets from all directions. In practice, this means the device can withstand heavy rain, splashes by the pool, or rinsing under a tap, but it is not designed for submersion underwater.
