I have been choosing new headphones for quite a long time and even though I read some reviews about QC45 like "no progress against QC35" and so on, I decided to buy them. I have to say that after a week of intense testing I am absolutely thrilled. Noise cancelling is absolutely precise, I tried using it with an extremely noisy mixer and it still sounded great. At the gym, until someone taps me on the shoulder, I don't even know they're talking to me (unless I can see them, of course; -) ) Another great thing is the large "shells" that cover completely the whole ear and even after a few hours you don't feel that the headphones bother you or push somewhere. As far as sound quality is concerned, I'm currently switching from Audio-Technica ATX M50x headphones, which I was very satisfied with, and I don't find Bose significantly better or worse than them. I found the Audio Techniques to have a bit more bass, but that honestly doesn't suit me that well with the style of music I listen to, so I'm probably a bit happier with the sound that the Bose delivers. And the last thing I like about the QC45 is their foldability, they can really be "crumpled" any way even if you don't carry the original case (which is also very nice and well made). I can only recommend it, for normal listening in the office, in the gym and at home for me super. Of course, for audiophiles there is probably a different price category, but for me they are perfectly fine.

Cannot select mode where neither talk in nor ANC mode is active, for me quite a strange SW shortcoming
when moving the head from side to side (e.g. when one looks around) the headphones are slightly "detached" from the head and therefore the ANC "does not work" resp. the sound gets in easily
for that price it's probably not much in terms of sound, my AT MX-20 for 1.500, - sound incomparably better although the mobile phone is not enough for some higher volume and bass and you need an amplifier
