TL; DR: It's pointless, it doesn't make sense. For RGB, buy a Nollie 8 (350 CZK) or Nollie 16 (750 CZK) or another opensource box and you have a much, much better device and can use much, much better software for setup. For fan control, usually ports on the board and open source software are enough. And if not, other, small hubs will do a better and cheaper service. As a SW for ventilation then the great Fan Control, which is free, and for RGB SignalRGB, which for free does great everything most mortals need. If one had everything from FD and in that last generation (USB-C connection), I could almost understand what the purpose of this box is. These new fans can control it separately even when chained. But that's the end of it. If you want to sync a graphics card, for example, you're out of luck. A fan that is connected directly to the board? Too bad. LEDs on the board? Haha. What's not attached here, it ignores. On the other hand, if you want to synchronize the fans (and other blinkers) connected to the Hub with others in other software (e.g. SignalRGB), it is possible. But everything that is connected to the Hub is reported as one single device, with no possibility of any granular control. So by switching to WDL (the Hub can be controlled by third-party SW) this gadget for 11 hundred becomes a cable for concatenation of 4 devices, which normally costs 60 crowns. And that's the end of it. All connected fans then receive the same instruction. This is OK only if you want the whole cabinet to shine the same way. But then you don't need this device for that. I won't even go into the ventilation. Same horror, in pale blue. It can only control the channels it has inside it. Forget the graphics, forget the fans attached to the board. Forget about any complicated mixes or, heaven forbid, logic when setting the cooling. Of course, Fractal thinks the price is too low to at least give you enough cables. So you'll be looking pretty hard for cables that connect standard fans (PWM 4P and ARGB 3P) to USB-C, which only Fractal uses. Good luck. What instead? It depends on how many things you need to control. The boards themselves have enough ports to control the fan speed. The more expensive boards also have a decent number of ports for RGB control. If this number of zones is enough for you, all you need are cable extensions.
If you want to control multiple RGBs one at a time and do more complex effects, then reach for an opensource box like Nollie. You can find a list of them on the SignalRGB website. I really don't understand the point of this thing. Except Fractal will sell it to a few kids who don't care that it's useless. I'm returning this, I'm buying a Nollie 16. Case will look much better and I'll use the money I save to take the kids out for pancakes.
