Hyper X Cloud II I have owned this product for about 3 years and the experience with them was very good. When you buy the headphones themselves, you get them in the package. The packaging is relatively good, the headphones are packed in foam so there is a good chance that they will not break in transit. The package also has:
- Headphones - USB cable with “sound card“ at the other end - Microphone that plugs in - Quick Start manual - Strange. red things, it looks like something that can be exchanged with stock shells but I don' t know until now.
The first thing you will see when the box unpacks is. another box. And what you will see in it is a Quick start manual, lying on foam.
The quick start manual will show the basic setup which I think is a very straight forward. But things different between operating systems are a bit limited. While yes, most people who buy HyperX headphones are game players, it would be nice to give instructions for Linux instead of just Windows and macOS.
After removing the foam plate, you will see the goods. In the middle of the headphones, next to them a microphone and under the headphones the red things I was talking about.
First, the headphones. These headphones use a 3.5 mm headphone jack to connect to the card or when you want to completely discard the card. This is good because if you want to plug headphones into something that doesn' t have a USB port, you can use it. In my experience, the 3.5 mm connector is fragile. When I use it on a mobile, the cable must be at a specific angle.
Next, “red stuff.“ I' ll be honest when I unpacked these headphones, I didn' t have the slightest pair of how these things work. And I still don' t know. Now that I' m writing this review, I think it' s probably a substitute for stock shells, because I once managed to partially remove one of the stock shells.
Finally, the sound card. This is a “hub“ where you can control the headphone volume, microphone volume and also has a toggle on 7.1 surround sound. I can' t describe how much of a difference there is in quality when comparing 7.1 to Stereo. It' s like someone living their whole life under the sea and then getting to Sněžka. This card is also good because it is able to give modularity. For example: Has your sound card broken? No problem, buy headphones and vice versa. The problem is that HyperX doesn' t sell the headphones / sound card itself, so you have to buy * everything *.
So, a smaller summary. Is this product good? Who is it for?
Honestly, these headphones are perhaps the best bang-for-the-buck headphones for gamers. I don' t think there' s anything better for 2,000. And for who it is, well, I' ve practically said that now, but I think the target demographics for these headphones are players who want good headphones but don' t want them to stand the same as a graphics card. Just bang-for-the-buck
