Using the 24 AWG braid can be recrimped (the wires have a diameter of 0.5mm even with insulation and fit perfectly)
Recrimping is more complicated, but just use 24 AWG UTP wire and it's possible (otherwise the wires are so thin that they can't be aligned in the termination)
The original connectors are quite large
