After installing the "correct" service application and drivers, the range is extended to meters and the adapter can be "used" under certain conditions.
Bluetooth management is not used through the normal Windows interface but exclusively through a totally obscure app in the notification bar
The app for pairing and connecting devices is really weird, unintuitive, non-automatic, requiring completely manual control for every action
For example, the earbud headphones with microphone were assigned as "hands-free" after pairing in the app's dialog and produced only buzzing instead of sound when YouTube was played; it was necessary to disconnect them in the app first and then connect them as just headphones (in two separate steps! ), everything else works similarly manually, including switching between different audio devices
Bluetooth audio devices cannot be switched in the volume control in Windows, but only via the app (disconnect one, then connect another and activate its correct profile)
The whole process is a total piece of shit, it's very reminiscent of putting Bluetooth on a PC 25 years ago

As an icing on the cake, the driver of the Bluetooth radio manufacturer, which is used in this adapter (BARROT company), will break the Bluetooth stack in Windows. Not only do you need to disable the memory integrity checking feature in Defender antivirus to install it, as it is incompatible, it will also certainly prevent any other BT adapter from being used. Even after uninstalling from the device manager (by driver, not just by device) the attempt to install any other BT adapter was successful, but never found any devices. After returning Windows to the date before the purchase of this adapter (in the changelog, among other things. mentioned, that some remnants of the BARROT Bluetooth adapter will be uninstalled), the adapter from TP-Link started to work correctly, incl. phone calls. So I recommend you pay an extra hundred and save yourself the nerves and hours of troubleshooting.
