I've been considering whether to go for a top of the line OLED TV for a long time and after looking at many reviews, I decided on the LG OLED77G54 in 77" size. I don't regret my decision, the picture is significantly better than on my previous 6 year old Samsung QLED TV. Combined with the LG soundbar, it's the perfect experience.

I was mainly buying it to watch movies in the evening and play games through the PS5, so my review will be from the perspective of a regular user, not some calibrated reviewer. A picture? Absolutely top of the line. The black is really black, no backlighting or grey spots as is often the case with other panels. Game mode is fast and smooth, input lag is virtually imperceptible. The sound didn't impress me much, I definitely recommend a soundbar for a TV like this. What bothered me though is the new menu, it's cluttered and reminds me of a mobile app stretched on a big screen. I'd also like to see more home screen customisation options. But I appreciate the quality of the workmanship, it's really a design piece, it looks premium, and when you hang it on the wall, it looks like a painting. Installation was simple. For me a very good panel, but some of the software stuff could use some tweaking.

I don't think there's any need to describe the quality of the display for the top panel for 2025 - you can only take a step sideways when making your selection, not above. Personally, I've switched from LG OLED C9 and the improvement is obvious at first glance - the brightness and colors in HDR are incredible, I also notice an improvement in lowres SDR computation. What I miss is the previous version of webOS, when it was possible to browse the tabs as an overlay over the running image. The current fullscreen screen is a definite step backwards in usability, with the top and bottom third of the image being one big ad (even if you turn off the ad in the menu, you don't get that space back) and the app tiles being just one narrow strip in the middle. Furthermore, the new system forces you to log into your LG account to install apps, and even with a five-generation faster processor, it is subjectively slower and less responsive. However, I have to take one star off for firmware bugs, where even three months after release, the HDR10 display has not been fixed. Although the solution is hopefully close (fw 33.11.35 should bring improvements at least for the filmmaker mode), such a long solution (and even launching in this state) is unacceptable for the flagship model of the brand. I'll gladly adjust to 5 stars after a full overhaul, because otherwise this panel definitely deserves it.
