It can be used not only under the monitor, but also under the computer under the desk, so that it does not stand e.g. on the carpet. I recommend AlzaErgo monitor holders instead of this one.

I needed a base, under my 3 monitors to keep them at eye level, and also get two floors that can be used to place things that would otherwise be lying on the desk and taking up floor space. I really like the material and the extremely simple assembly (not that I expected anything complicated, but still. )
Well done, thanks.

Appearance
Easy installation
It cannot be placed side by side with the AlzaErgo Riser ER130WBD double column - they have different plate thicknesses, so they do not fit side by side.

Elegant
Does not flex under a 24" monitor
It ensures that the monitor is at the correct height with a standard stand. I've gone for a height-adjustable monitor
Fits a laptop underneath - saves desk space
no slipping
