On Linux (Fedora 38) it works instantly when plugged into a USB port.
Connecting the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro headphones (without having to set anything up) works perfectly.

Very small range, barely 2-3 meters, connection unstable. Either I'm out of luck on the piece, or it's a piece of junk.

Even after installing the drivers from the included bluetooth cd, when paired with branded wireless headphones, the sound transmits jerkily, the headphones have to be unmovingly attached no further than about half a meter away to get an unbroken, clear, uninterrupted sound. Once the paired receiver is further away or in motion, while in the same room, the Bluetooth connection does not work at all or is very intermittent.

I needed BT to a large computer because of BT headphones. They work just fine all over the apartment.
It delivers what it promises. Well, within the confines of a prefab apartment.

doesn't want to find any BT devices nearby, I tried it on two computers and it worked on the third one, but it didn't "run" on those two: (
