The Carneo watch arrived with a completely dead internal battery, which doesn't do much for its lifespan either. The firmware and OS are without security patches. As of September 2026, the last update was in 2024. We bought the watch instead of a mobile for emergencies and to keep an eye on things. In this usage mode, the battery lasts up to 5 days. Our little boy sometimes calls someone, and as long as he doesn't mumble and the person on the other end isn't hard of hearing, communication via the speaker is absolutely fine. PS: The settings and navigating the menu aren't intuitive. But we taught our son how to find a contact and make a call. There are icons, so he doesn't need to know how to read. He selects the contact by their photo. He doesn't need anything else, so the complicated controls aren't a problem. Oh, and they are quite big, but so is the competition at this price point, and we didn't want to spend 7k on a Garmin. Plus, the camera takes pretty good photos, so the size of the watch is quite justified.

The watch is doing the job for now. Bought because of my son’s location and in case I needed to ring him. You need a SIM card. They could be a bit smaller; the battery lasts a couple of days, but that’s only because of the GPS tracking and the fact that he uses them to make two calls a day – when he arrives at school and when he leaves school. However, as someone has already mentioned in previous reviews, you need to set the parameter to ‘non-Chinese’ on mobile networks. It gets its location data from GPS when it’s outside the building – that’s accurate – and when it’s at school, it uses Wi-Fi, and sometimes I have to refresh it a few times because it shows a different location – I’ll have a bit more of a play with it to see if I can set it to use only GPS and skip Wi-Fi location, but for now I’m happy with it as it is and it serves our purposes. Once he’s got a mobile, he’ll obviously be able to buy a better watch – and perhaps even one with an eSIM.
