This substrate is a good base for succulents, but it needs a few other components to ensure a more balanced plant nutrition. The addition of mineral fertilizers and other fertilizers can significantly improve its quality and increase the efficiency of growing a succulent.
I recently bought a pro-succulent substrate that contains compost, perlite, coir and sand. Overall, this substrate has its advantages and disadvantages, which are worth considering before using it.
Compost: provides organic matter and some nutrients necessary for plants. Prosucculents, however, it is important that the compost is well distributed, because they do not need a large amount of organic matter.
Perlite: improves drainage and aeration, which is important for succulents that do not tolerate stagnant water. Perlite also helps maintain the lightness of the instinct.
Coconut fibers: they ensure good retention of moisture and improve the structure of impulses. Coconut substrate is an ecologically clean alternative to peat, but it contains limited amounts of nutrients.
Sand: it also aids drainage and relieves itching, but can harden quickly if used in excess.
Although this substrate has good drainage and moisture retention properties, it is relatively poor in mineral content, which may not meet the needs of some types of succulents.
