I definitely recommend you purchase a shoulder or gooseneck as well. The microphone is lightweight, so even cheaper pieces can hold it without a problem. The included plastic stand transmits all sounds from the table (logically, when in direct contact).
The LED indication of the microphone mute status could be the opposite. The microphone now lights up if it is sensing, but if it is muted it does not light up. The opposite behavior would make more sense.
