best DRAMless SSD
Speed
low power consumption, suitable for laptops
does not heat up, no need to use heatsink
large SLC cache (which shrinks as the disk is filled)
after filling the SLC cache the speed drops to about 500 MB/s
no DRAM

The Samsung 980 (500 GB) is basically the Samsung 980 Pro without DRAM, with a slower CPU and with PCIe 3.0 instead of PCIe 4.0. The copy speed of a 50 GB file (random data) is approximately 700 MB/s for the initial 30 GB, which temporarily exhausts the TurboWrite cache, and 250 MB/s for the remaining 20 GB.
Fast access times compared to other PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSDs
Brand and price
Faster than the Samsung 970 Evo Plus in some tests
Relatively slow writing after temporary depletion of TurboWrite cache
1 TB model is faster than the 500 GB model
Not suitable for longer term data logging: overheats and has extremely high write latency over time
