I've owned a Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro since 2022. Since it updated to the latest OS version, I can directly compare the two models. Differences in performance: The Watch 5 is faster than the Ultra 2. It's not significantly faster, but it's noticeable. The battery lasts longer. But it's a matter of getting used to how you charge the watch. I've got into the habit of charging it during the day, after lunch. And I don't see a huge difference in speed. What I particularly appreciate are the new health features. With the Watch 5, the Samsung Health app would tell me that some features are available in newer models. The Watch 5 would sometimes freeze for a few seconds. Sometimes the charge would show 100% but then immediately drop to 88%. The always-on display would turn off more often instead of staying on as it should. I see it more as a better-tuned system rather than a dramatic leap forward that would leave me gobsmacked. Pros: It's a new watch. Tuned up, with lots of little things and hitches removed. You can see the development. The display is significantly better than on the old watch. The system response is quicker and more flexible. Cons: I'll have to buy new sets of straps. It's not as amazing as I expected; with the new OS, it looks just like my old Galaxy Watch 5. Its speed isn't that much greater or better. Conclusion: If your old watch works and the battery is still good, and you're not an early adopter on principle, there's no need to rush. Wait until your old watch fails.
These are new watches
Fine-tuned, and lots of minor niggles and hitches have been removed. You can see the development.
The display is substantially better than on the old watch.
The system response is quicker and more flexible.
I'll have to buy a new set of straps.
It’s not as amazing as I expected, with the new OS they look just like my old Galaxy Watch 5.
Their speed isn't that much greater or better.

I upgraded from a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, so it's a huge technological leap. I do miss the rotating bezel a little bit, but I'll get used to that in time. Overall, I'm thrilled with them. I like the simple strap changing system.
Comfortable to wear
Quick response in apps
I don't have to carry my phone with me when I'm exercising.
Sports app
Paying with the watch
High quality and bright display
Resilience
I'm missing a rotating bezel.
One of the little rubber loops on the strap that came with it keeps moving. This means the strap sticks out. I fixed it by using a different strap.

I've upgraded from the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and the difference in performance and features is solid. Apps are much more responsive, the battery lasts twice as long as the Watch 8 Classic's, and the strap is very comfortable. The only thing I'll miss from the W8 is the rotating bezel for switching between tiles, but you get used to that after a while. I'm very curious about the diving functions.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 caught my eye with its elegant design, quality display and comfortable wear throughout the day. I find the controls intuitive, the system is responsive and I appreciate the clear tracking of physical activities, sleep and health data. I also make practical use of notifications and the connection with my Samsung phone. As for battery life, with normal use it easily lasts more than two days, but with more intensive sports and GPS use, I have to charge it more often. Overall, I am happy with the watch and see it as a great companion for sports and everyday use.
Durable construction
High quality and bright display
Seamless integration with the Samsung ecosystem
Fast charging
Practical health features
Higher price
Battery life under heavy use

I recommend making the switch from a Galaxy Watch Ultra
Conservative design (which I see as a plus)
The strap and the body are indeed thinner
Smoother operation
The display could have been stretched out a bit more.
I miss having a rotating bezel
