Precise, size, ideal height, nice minimalist design, low price. I put away my Razer Manticor and went back to the platinum surface after 12 years (I used to use the Razer eXactMat 2003 - 1st edition aluminum surface).
I don't know if I was just lucky on the piece, or SteelSeries somehow improved/optimized the manufacturing process, but my pad after unpacking didn't stink at all, it was almost flat and after about a minute or two of smoothing (I just rolled it 2-3 times in the opposite direction and ran my hand over it a few times) it was completely smooth.
Unfortunately it doesn't have the precise edges like the Razer Goliathus (. I wouldn't put that one on my desk even if I were getting paid for it, but that's a matter of taste: ), so the lath will peel off after a while. But for that price I hope I can somehow get a new one; )
