I bought the camera for a NAS server running a recording program. The camera appealed to me mainly because of its brand and price. The camera on its own if you want to use it through TP-Link servers so for the money it is excellent. The problem arises if you want your privacy and you disable the camera's access to the internet. A camera connected via ONVIF disconnects and often restarts when it tries to move. If you don't care that the video from the camera goes halfway around the world to someone's server and then back to your phone, the camera is for you. The camera communicates with the Tapo app even without internet access on the local network, but not via VPN. I read that TP-Link is doing this on purpose to sell their cloud.
Video quality even in the dark

When using the ONVIF protocol, the camera disconnects from the server every 5 minutes for about 20 sec.
After Internet access is disabled, the camera restarts quite often when trying to rotate

A great help in keeping track of my dogs when I'm not home. I know exactly what they are doing and I can shout at them when they are barking too much.
Easy to install and operate.
Very reasonable price.
