Active PoE (Power over Ethernet) uses advanced power management that enables automatic negotiation between the Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) and the Powered Device (PD) about the amount of current and voltage to be delivered. This technology ensures the safety of connected devices by detecting whether a device is PoE compatible before power is applied. Active PoE is suitable for a variety of applications including IP cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones and is supported by standards such as IEEE 802.3af (PoE) and 802.3at (PoE+).
